Minus 7 degree's really isn't the thrill of a lifetime to wake up to. Even when you have slept in ski gear all night long, even when you have tried to keep your feet warm in hot water every few hours.It's such critical conditions that you dare not remove dirty clothes, hoodies, coats, because your body can't handle the loss of body heat.
And my mind kept going to my puppy, Gracie.
There is still no sign of Gracie despite looking for her, and calling for her, until midnight. As soon as it was safe to drive I went to TR's and put a "lost" notice out, then I phoned the K-Buy radio station to see if they could make an announcement. I posted requests on Facebook but my stomach is churning with panic and helplessness not knowing where she is, or what has happened to her.

Ruidoso See's Record Temperature For December 6thI managed to get to Ruidoso to do my bosses banking, and pick up his medication. The roads were delightfully clear, and I found myself looking at passing cars wondering if a tourist has picked up Gracie.

But Tuesday morning's temperature of minus 9 established a new record chill for Dec. 6. The previous record cold for the date, 7 below zero, happened in 1950."We kind of shifted from snow, snow, snow to now it's just the cold, cold temperatures," said National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Shoemake. Repeat snowstorm systems set up the bone-chilling cold from the Yukon.
"The first one brought in a little bit of colder air," Shoemake said. "Then the second one brought in more cooler air. And then this third one really brought in the much stronger core of colder air both aloft and at the surface. So I think we just never really had any kind of chance to see a temperature rebound between these storms."
Temperatures fell below zero at a number of locations beyond Ruidoso this morning, including a minus 1 at the airport in Carrizozo.
Shoemake said the ample snow cover that was delivered the past few days also helped to reinforce the cold temperatures. Another deep freeze was predicted for early this morning.
After receiving about six inches of snow on Saturday, Monday's storm delivered four to six additional inches around the Ruidoso area, six inches in Capitan, and 11 inches of new snow at Ski Apache.
Ruidoso, Capitan, and Hondo Valley schools are closed today.
Do those in homes have ANY idea what it's like to be homeless? There are thousands of women and children in this country who have nowhere to call home. Children sleeping in cars and on park benches. Thousands of vets who have no place to call home. What on earth are we doing?
I am simply horrified that a large portion of the population can turn away from so much suffering right under their noses. You see the world a whole lot different, you have nothing but compassion and desire to help... once you have hurt enough yourself.
There has to be someone related to Robert & Sylve Huckins must have some means to reach them, if it be Michael Huckins, Dr.Kenneth Ogilvie ( Diana Huckins? Dominic Huckins? Malcolm Huckins? ) or Patricia Ogilvie-Huckins and get them to return ALL of the money they stole from us so that I can buy a home and get our lives back. I am begging anyone in this family for help.I don't believe I have EVER witnessed any none violent crime that can be as devastating as stealing someone's home. Patricia Ogilvie-Huckins you were present the day I signed contract with your son. You walked out of the kitchen with Sylve Huckins and your son introduced me to you. He told you that I was the British horse trainer he had told you about, the one he was going to build the home and barn for. Why didn't you say something? There may be a rational and reasonable explanation but I have spent over 3 years, homeless, not understanding it. I understand it even less knowing that though I was a total stranger, both Dorothy McKeever and Sally Canning you KNEW, and you knew what your son had done to them and others.
Dr. Kenneth Ogilvie, I contacted you and simply asked for a reference, not knowing that Robert Huckins was your cousin. Robert Huckins had just stolen over $30,000 from the domestic violence shelter, HEAL, yet everyone was trying to hide it. There was a history of stealing large amounts of money. $65,000 PLUS from Nancy Canning. $89,000 PLUS from Dorothy McKeever, $45,000 from Francis McKinney. The list just goes on and on and on.
Because of Robert Huckins I ended up paying $140,000 to be homeless.. sat in the cold, emotionally, physically and financially broke. In the middle of a recession, with no way to recover the stolen funds.
Today Robert Huckins has his own home...
He also has OUR home.....
He also has a lot of people's money...
And his freedom.
Women are not banks or loan institutions. Women should not be the source of a retirement fund for people who don't want to do an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. Holding women hostage while playing with the judicial system, a horrendous game of cat and mouse extending YEARS, with the victims whose very homes, families and stability are in jeopardy is cruelty, as cruel as a physical beating. It is financial and emotional RAPE. Homelessness is not justice. It is a slow, painful death.
Please, I beg with everything I have within me, please convince Robert Huckins to stop this torture and return the building fund he stole from us so we too, can have a home.
